The Edinburgh Music Competition Festival is a friendly and supportive festival where amateur musicians of all ages can take to the stage  alongside performers of a similar ability.

Our programme of competitive and non-competitive classes positively encourages musicians of all abilities to take part. We offer more than 100 classes for classical and traditional instruments or combinations of instruments and singers, choirs, orchestras and bands.

The Syllabus document is at the heart of the Festival. It provides a list of all the classes we offer, as well as regulations, adjudicator biographies, previous winners and much more. It is available online below:

For 2022 we have introduced three new non-competitive classes - a jazz workshop led by Richard Michael for soloists or ensembles;  a class for adult beginner pianists;  and for children who are shy about performing alone - "Sing with a friend" - for ages 11 to 12 and 10 and under.

We have also re-introduced a Centenary Choir class which couldn't take place because of Covid concerns in 2020, our centenary year.   This non-competitive class will again be led by Frikki Walker and is open to all ages.   It will take the form of a workshop followed by a mass choir performance in the concert of Highlights at The Queen's Hall on Sunday, 13 March.
